NMHF's on-the-water-programs are re-connecting people of the national capital region to their rivers. These programs include:

Youth Programs

Kids Set Sail - An educational program providing participants inspiring life lessons, while focusing students on developing teamwork, communication, decision making, responsibility and a love of an active lifestyle and sailing. Students learn and excel in a team-based environment through the sport of sailing.

National Capital High School Sailing - established in 2005 as the first interscholastic competitive sailing program for Washington area students.

Learn to Sail - An after-school educational program for youth in grades 6-10 which teaches students how to sail with the goal of obtaining certification by the end of the course. Sailors who complete the Learn To Sail Course are encouraged to move up to our National Capitol High School Sailing Team in the Spring.

Adult Programs

DC Sail - A community sailing program which provides sailing lessons, boat rentals and fleet racing on the Washington Channel for both youth and adults.

Schooner American Spirit Charters - Sail down the potomac on our 65 foot Schooner.

Schooner Cruises

Schooner American Spirit Education Program - Unique to the National Capital region, American Spirit offers three-hour educational cruises exploring the maritime life of Washingtonians in the 1800’s.
