Staff

Kevin Traver, Executive Director
Mr. Traver joined NMHF as Executive Director in 2004. He began sailing in his hometown of Mystic, Connecticut, home of the Mystic Seaport Museum, where Mr. Traver has been a historical interpreter. Mr. Traver joined the United States Marine Corp. after high school and completed nearly 10 years of active service around the world. He returned to Connecticut, where he managed a restaurant and worked in the Legislature and in state politics. Mr. Traver then relocated to Washington, D.C., working as Director of Media Campaigns for the United Nations Foundation, followed by work as Assistant Director of Corporate Relations for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Traver has a B.A. and an M.A. in Diplomatic History from the University of Connecticut.

Blair Overman, Director of Youth Programs
Ms. Overman, a US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Certified instructor, grew up sailing on the Neuse River in North Carolina. She joined NMHF in May 2008 as the Director of Youth Programs; specifically the Kids Set Sail summer camp and High School sailing programs. Before coming to NMHF, Ms. Overman was a member of the administrative staff for the sailing program at Camp Seafarer in Arapahoe, North Carolina. Here, Ms. Overman gained many years ofsailing instruction experience while working with a fleet of over 70 boats that put 500 children on the water per session.  She also gained grant-writing experience while interning for the Neuse River Foundation in New Bern, North Carolina.  Ms. Overman obtained a B.A. in English Literature and Composition from The University of the South; Sewanee.
