To protect online privacy, the NMHF has implemented the following policy.

About the Information We Collect

Most of the data and information we collect through our Web site is used only to help NMHF achieve its mission of inspiring minds through maritime educational experiences. It is our policy to collect and store only personal information that our clients knowingly provide.

From Casual Web Site Visitors and General Users:
We do not collect any personal information from users browsing our Web site. When you use the public areas of our Web site you are doing so anonymously. We do collect aggregate use information, such as the number of hits (visits) per page. We use aggregate data for internal and marketing purposes, but we don't collect any personally identifying information.

From Our Clients, Donors and Other Customers. If while visiting our Web site you order a product, register for a conference, submit a technical assistance question, or request other information, you will be asked to provide certain information. In all cases this information is submitted voluntarily. In most cases, NMHF asks clients to provide their name, title, organization name, address, telephone, and e-mail. If you're making a purchase, you may be asked for credit card information in order to complete your purchase. Similar information may be submitted to NMHF on a registration form.

Privacy and the Links on Our Website
Providing the public with information about maritime heritage programs and sailing education through our Web site is an essential part of the National Maritime Heritage Foundation efforts to carry out its mission.

Links IN—to www.nmhf.org—We welcome links to any part of our Web site from other nonprofits, government agencies, and others who wish to help extend our mission into the nonprofit sector. We ask that you contact us to let us know of your intentions to link to our site, and indicate the purpose of the link. No link may present or display a product or activity in a way that states or implies the Center's endorsement. The Center does not endorse any commercial organizations or products.

Links OUT—The National Maritime Heritage Foundation Web site features links to other nonprofit organization sites, maritime and sailing organizations, and corporate sponsors of NMHF. We do not routinely "out-link" to private, commercial or other similar Web sites, other than current corporate sponsors of NMHF programs and services. However, on a case-by-case basis, we will consider requests from such groups or persons to out-link to their Web sites. NMHF will grant such requests only where it is determined that such links will clearly support our mission of providing information on risk management, liability and insurance issues for community-serving nonprofits, and where we have concluded that such links will not in any way jeopardize our reputation, independence, objectivity, mission or ability to serve the nonprofit sector. From time to time, NMHF also may decide on its own, not based on any request, to out-link to private, commercial or other Web sites. The same criteria described above will apply. Such links may be short or long-term, at the discretion of the organization. Contact To be considered for out-links from www.nmhf.org contact: Kevin Traver via e-mail at KTraver@NMHF.org or (202) 547 1250 .
