NMHF maritime education programs provide a unique learning environment for students and the general public in the national capital region and links them to our nation’s maritime history.

NMHF’s Maritime Education Program’s include:

The Schooner American Spirit Education Program - American Spirit is a restored sixty-five foot schooner which serves as a dynamic learning environment and platform for students throughout the national capital area.

Spirit-in-School - Spirit is a 16-foot tall ship replica with accompanying interactive educational curriculum which visits local schools and community events to promote the maritime heritage of Washington, D.C.

Spirit of Enterprize - NMHF has developed plans to build a tall ship based in Washington, D.C. The ship will serve as a living model of maritime and naval history in our nation’s capital. Spirit of Enterprize will be a replica of the famous historic tall ship Enterprize, commissioned by George Washington and home ported in Washington.
