NMHF Hosts events for National Learn-to-Sail Day! Proceeds to fund High School Sailing program.
September 16 is National Learn-to-Sail Day and
NMHF/DC Sail is celebrating with an open house that offers you the chance to
meet members, find out about its programs (boat 
rentals, lessons, night races and more), and help out
a good cause while you're at it -- proceeds benefit the National Capital High
School sailing program. In addition, there will also be a silent auction. BBQ
is free for members, $8 for non-members.
DC Sail's bbq adds a waterfront setting, food from Phillips Seafood, and the chance to sail for free on one of their Flying Scots or FJ's! If you've ever watched enviously as boaters cruise down the Potomac in a stiff breeze on a beautiful fall day, here's your chance to find out how to join them while supporting our upcoming high school sailing season.

The Pajaro Jai Sunset Sail!

On Tuesday, September 19, 2006
from 6:30 – 8:30 PM NMHF will host a sunset sail for its members and friends on
board 
the Pajaro Jai. The
trip will depart from the Gang Plank Marina docks behind the Cantina Marina,
next to the Presidential Yacht Sequoia. Cost will be $50 for members and
$65 for non-members. All the proceeds for this event will benefit NMHF
and the construction of the Spirit of Enterprize.

The Pajaro Jai is hand built of tropical hardwoods, is 92 feet long and 20 feet wide, but the real beauty of this vessel is the craftsmanship and wood working that has gone into her. The Pajaro Jai is the sailing ambassador of the Pajaro Jai Foundation. The foundations mission is to encourage the self-sufficiency of indigenous societies by finding ways to eliminate the dependencies that are often a consequence of efforts to aid these societies.
